Questions clients ask before booking
Can I request Christine Lee?+
Yes. Whether she can interpret herself is confirmed after we look at the job and her schedule. When she interprets in person, her rate is ¥13,500 per hour (half day 4 hours: ¥54,000; full day 8 hours: ¥108,000), tax included.
Can EMYSTI choose another interpreter?+
Yes. We can choose another professional interpreter based on the languages, field, place, schedule and format. Christine still looks at the job and helps with preparation. The standard rate is ¥12,000 per interpreter per hour (half day 4 hours: ¥48,000; full day 8 hours: ¥96,000), tax included.
What is the minimum booking time?+
One hour. After that, time is charged in 15-minute steps (half day 4 hours: about ¥48,000 / ¥54,000; full day 8 hours: about ¥96,000 / ¥108,000). Travel, specialist preparation, equipment and out-of-hours work are quoted if they apply.
Can I talk to the interpreter briefly first?+
If it helps, we can set up an online chat of up to 15 minutes before you confirm, so you can check you are comfortable working together.
Can I send medical records or confidential files with the inquiry form?+
No. Start with just the date and the kind of job. If a document is really needed, we will explain why and how to send it safely.
Do you provide formal simultaneous interpreting?+
Yes, with a separate quote. It is not charged at the single-interpreter hourly rate, because we have to plan the team size, audio, venue, equipment, preparation and schedule.
Can you do online meetings or phone calls?+
Yes. We check the languages, platform, how participants will join, timing and any technical setup.
What if the job changes or is cancelled?+
Tell us as early as possible. The final quote and confirmed order set out the change, travel, preparation and cancellation terms. Charges are based on the time and work actually set aside for the job.
