Healthcare business and research meetings
Interpreters for meetings between doctors and healthcare companies in Japan.
We provide English, Japanese and Chinese interpreting for meetings between doctors, researchers and healthcare companies — business talks, research discussions and partnerships. This is different from going with a patient to an appointment. In-person meetings anywhere in Japan are arranged from Tokyo and Shimonoseki, and online meetings can include people overseas. Christine Lee looks at the medical and business side first, then EMYSTI confirms the interpreter and the quote.
What we cover

Prepare a healthcare meeting brief
A clear agenda helps distinguish clinical explanations from commercial discussions and keeps preparation focused on the meeting you are planning.
- Meeting purpose and participant roles, without patient-identifying records
- Language directions and which participants need interpreting
- Date, start time, time zones and expected duration
- Remote platform or on-site city and venue
- Permitted agenda, presentation titles and terms that need consistent translation
- Slides, minutes or follow-up correspondence needed, with document deadlines
How we choose interpreters
Before, during and after
Agree the agenda
Send the purpose of the meeting, who is attending, the languages, the date and time zones. An agenda helps us separate medical explanations from business questions and choose the right format.
Prepare the terms together
Slides and a term list you are happy to share help keep medical terms, product names, research wording and partnership details consistent. We agree how confidential material is handled before we prepare.
The meeting and the paperwork after
The interpreter passes on questions and answers between the medical and business sides. Slides, minutes and follow-up emails can be translated separately using the same terms; the price depends on volume, subject and deadline.
Who checks the job, and how we choose
Someone who understands medicine checks it
Christine Lee’s clinical medicine background and medical research at the University of Tokyo help with terminology and checking each job. You can ask for Christine, or let EMYSTI choose another professional interpreter.
Medical and business content in one brief
We look at how technical the topic is, how people will speak, who will attend and how much preparation time there is — all together. We plan for your actual meeting, not just a “medical” label or a language pair.
Interpreting helps people communicate; medical, research and business decisions stay with the participants. Institutions mentioned describe professional background and do not mean endorsement or employment.

FAQ
Questions about this service
Is this the same as interpreting at a hospital appointment?+
No. This page is for professional meetings, research and healthcare business. For patients going to consultations, tests or treatment explanations, see our medical interpreter page.
Can you interpret an online meeting across time zones?+
Yes. Send the date, each person’s time zone, the platform, how long it will run and the languages. We confirm the meeting time, audio and format before quoting.
Can we request Christine Lee?+
Yes, through the booking form. Whether she can do it is confirmed after we look at the job and her schedule. An interpreter chosen by EMYSTI is also available.
How much does a medical business meeting cost?+
An EMYSTI professional interpreter costs ¥12,000 per hour (about ¥48,000 for a 4-hour half day, ¥96,000 for an 8-hour full day). Christine Lee costs ¥13,500 per hour (about ¥54,000 for a half day, ¥108,000 for a full day). Both rates include tax. The minimum is 1 hour, then 15-minute steps. Travel, specialist preparation and out-of-hours work are added to the quote if needed.
Can you also translate slides, minutes or follow-up emails?+
Yes. Japanese, Chinese and English document translation is quoted separately by volume, subject and deadline. Tell us which documents you need before and after the meeting so the terms stay the same.

Travel, accommodation, rush jobs, nights and weekends, or preparing materials are listed in the quote if needed.
Formal simultaneous interpreting is not charged at the single-interpreter hourly rate. It needs a separate quote, because we first have to plan the interpreter team, booth or portable equipment, audio, venue, preparation time and shifts.
